Questions & Answers

How much are the fees?

Counselling sessions are £40 per hour for individuals and £50 for couples. Sessions are usually one hour long, however longer or shorter sessions can be agreed between us if necessary. We will usually meet regularly once a week.

Coaching sessions are £40 per hour, and £20 per half hour. It is usual to begin with a one-hour session, and to continue with half-hour sessions once a week to review progress, maintain motivation and reassess goals. Your particular requirements and needs will be discussed between us and sessions scheduled accordingly.

What's the difference between Counselling and Coaching?

Counselling and Coaching have some similarities, but are essentially very different from one another. Broadly speaking, Counselling is about looking at your experiences or your behaviour, and helping you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings. This might be about a particular issue, such as anxiety, depression, negative self-image or a traumatic event. You might come to counselling to look at the way you feel about yourself, or to explore feelings you have about your partner, family or colleagues. Perhaps you have fears or phobias you would like to tackle, or feelings of inferiority that hold you back in life. Maybe you have difficulty holding down a relationship, or are unsure whether you want to stay with your existing partner. All these issues and many more are welcome in my consulting room. You may rest assured that all your feelings, however 'unacceptable' you may think them, are all acceptable in counselling.

The above is in no way a definitive list of the issues counselling can help with, so if you want to ask any questions about what counselling is about, please feel free to send me an email.

Coaching is about taking you from where you are now in your life, to the place you want to be. Coaching helps you to realise your dreams, achieve your potential and get what you want. So many people live their lives on 'Someday Island' - they are going to have a well-paid job, a bigger house, a nicer car, a fulfilling career, a size 10 figure....someday. These people may manage to somehow gain a little ground towards what they want before they die - but most won't.

When you come for personal coaching, you will be enabled to identify and map out clear goals which represent what you really want - whatever that is. You will get encouragement and motivation to achieve your goals through identification and removal of barriers and generation of new ideas to move you forward. Everyone has massive potential. Coaching is about taking an idea or a dream and turning it into reality. It is about focus, intent, commitment and enthusiasm from both sides.

Whereas counselling usually takes place on a regular weekly basis, which is important for the therapeutic process, counselling will be more likely once a fortnight, or even monthly, depending on the individual and the nature of the goal.

Again, if you have more questions, please do send me an email.
