About Me

My name is Sally Mitchell, and twenty years ago I went to see a counsellor for Depression. That experience was an amazing one for me, and started me on a path towards personal growth and fulfilment which continues to transform my life. Some years later, I began my counselling training.

I am now a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychological Coach and attained my post-graduate Diploma, Masters Degree and CBT Certificate at the University of East Anglia. My training, professional and personal development work is ongoing, and like all professional therapists, my counselling work is regulated by a qualified external supervisor. I have been working in private practice since 2005 and also undertake contracts for outside agencies, GP surgeries and Employee Assistance Programmes.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), who have a Code of Ethics and Practice for counsellors. BACP is the largest professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK, and membership represents an assurance for the client of the highest professional and ethical standards.

My personality and personal attributes lend themselves well to the work I do, as I am naturally compassionate, empathic, intuitive, and enthusiastic. I aim to combine caring and supporting with challenging and practial problem-solving; one past client described my approach as "really understanding and gentle, but gives you a prod when you need it!" Please see my testimonials page for other clients' endorsements.

My experience with counselling clients has shown me that sometimes, people come for counselling when what they really want is some new ideas, a fresh outlook, someone to bounce ideas off, someone to give them a different perspective. They want something to change in their lives, without necessarily delving into the past or their psyche on a deep level. This is why I decided to also add Life Coaching to the portfolio of services I can offer, in order to be a 'one-stop shop' for all my clients' needs. I trained in coaching with The Coaching Academy, the largest coaching trainer in the UK, and this training has added to my experience in psychological motivation and life enhancement techniques.
